US President Donald Trump says he has not read the Mueller report

Barr is now expected to release the entire report, with redactions, by mid-April.

Although Mueller was clear that there was no collusion between the president's 2016 campaign team and Russian officials, he left the question of whether the president obstructed Mueller's investigation open to the Attorney General's interpretation.

Last week news reports suggested that members of Mueller's team are frustrated with Barr's letter, which they saw as oversimplifying their more complicated findings.

"I have not read the Mueller Report yet, even though I have every right to do so", Trump wrote in a post on Twitter.

If President Trump's first two weeks are any indication of how he will use the Mueller report to his electoral advantage, he will continue to gin up attention with claims of total exoneration and threats to start investigations into his investigators.

However, Attorney General William Barr will release a redacted version of Mr Mueller's final report in what Ms Rogers believes could potentially be damaging to the US President.

House Democrats have also asked the country's tax agency, the Internal Revenue Service, to turn over the last six years of Trump's federal tax returns, which, breaking custom from previous presidents the last four decades, Trump has refused to disclose.

In October, the special counsel's office released a statement revealing it had asked the FBI to investigate a GOP scheme to discredit Mueller using false allegations of sexual misconduct.

"Prosecutors generally take a broad view of what constitutes grand jury information in order to avoid inadvertently disclosing it, but here there's a strong counterbalancing interest in ensuring that everything that can come out does come out, " Bies said. Mueller's prosecutors always declined to comment.

He told Congress in a letter last week he must redact material that was presented to a grand jury, as required by law, as well as information that could reveal USA intelligence agencies' sources and methods.

One mystery is what, if anything, came of the special counsel's questioning of George Nader, a Lebanese-American businessman and consultant to the crown princes of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia who started cooperating with Mueller previous year.

"Given the extraordinary public interest in the matter, the Attorney General chose to release the report's bottom-line findings and his conclusions immediately - without attempting to summarize the report - with the understanding that the report itself would be released after the redaction process", the Justice Department statement said.

Democrats have rejected the notion that Barr, who sent an unsolicited memo to the White House before he was hired arguing a President can not obstruct justice if there's no underlying crime, should be able to decide whether Mueller's evidence spells obstruction. Articles appear on for a limited time.
