Trump Calls Netanyahu ‘Your Prime Minister’ While Speaking To American Jewish Group

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has told US President Donald Trump that Israel would not remove "even one person" from a settlement as part of a future peace plan.

The American Jewish Committee responded to Trump's statement on twitter saying, "Mr. President, the Prime Minister of Israel is the leader of his (or her) country, not ours".

President Donald Trump criticized Democrats' stand on Israel as he courted members of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas.

Speaking at the Republican Jewish Coalition gathering in Las Vegas, Trump said he made the snap decision during a discussion with his top Middle East peace advisers, including the US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The race appears too close to call in its final days, as Netanyahu faces a strong challenge from Benny Gantz, a popular former army chief. "I am going to extend (Israeli) sovereignty and I don't distinguish between settlement blocs and the isolated settlements".

Israel captured the Golan in the 1967 Middle East war and annexed it in 1981 in a move not recognized internationally.

More than 600,000 Israelis live on war-won land, two-thirds of them in the West Bank.

"I said there shouldn't be the removal of even one settlement" from the occupied West Bank, Netanyahu told Israel's Channel 13 television in an interview broadcast yesterday.

"Israel will continue to brazenly violate worldwide law for as long as the global community will continue to reward Israel with impunity, particularly with the Trump administration's support", he said on Twitter. "We don't love the fact that he's carrying the flag of Honduras or Guatemala or El Salvador, only to say he's petrified to be in his country".

The latest polls place Netanyahu and ex-military chief Gantz neck and neck, but give the former the advantage in his ability to form a coalition government.

Trump later repeated previous allegations that "the Democrats have even allowed the awful scourge of anti-Semitism to take root in their party and in their country", pointing to Democrats' recent move to block a measure condemning the boycott-Israel movement from the Yemen War Powers Resolution.

When Trump asked the crowd who they thought would win, they replied with cheers of "Bibi", Netanyahu's nickname.

The Palestinians say the United States government's pro-Israel bias meant it could no longer lead peace negotiations between them and Israel, while U.S. officials argue their plan will be fair.

'"I am very anxious that I will be accosted if I am sent back home, '" he said.

Netanyahu did not say whether he would seek to annex areas now under Palestinian control under the Oslo Accords.

Citing a law passed past year declaring Israel the nation state of the Jewish people, he said recently the country was "not a state of all its citizens".

"What is important is who leads, the diplomatic navigator", Netanyahu said in an interview with Israel Hayom newspaper on Friday.
