You'll also be able to view a dashboard that shows any problems with updates, allowing you to check if you are experiencing known borkage or are a pioneer of Microsoft's buggery.

Apart from new and improved gaming features, Microsoft is also allowing users to personalise their Game bar. Feature Updates will now be offered via a separate control.

Netmarketshare, a statistics outlet, recently issued a new report that stated Windows 7 has lost nearly two percent of desktop market share in the last month. For instance, in 2018, we got the Windows 10 April 2018 Update and the Windows 10 October 2018 Update. This caused Microsoft to roll back the buggy update and re-release it in January 2019.

For bigger updates - such as the one heading to our PCs this May - there will also be an option to download and install the update immediately.

"Beginning with the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, users will be more in control of initiating the feature OS update", Windows Corporate Vice President Mike Fortin wrote in a Thursday blog post.

Microsoft has announced some new features that will be coming to the Windows 10 Game Bar.

Microsoft is still planning Windows 10 19H2 for later in the year and will adjust the rings accordingly when the first builds hit.

In addition, Microsoft is tweaking its "active hours" feature, which lets users set a time range of when they use their PC. If you're impatient and want to test it now, go to Microsoft's Windows Insider website, sign into your Microsoft account, and click Get Started to become a Windows Insider tester.

A beta version of this Game bar update is now available to members of the Xbox Insider Program. We should have charged Microsoft a consulting day rate.

Delaying the release for some additional testing is the right decision; most users, admins and companies would not mind, probably, if the testing would even take longer than that provided that the final release version is as stable as it can be. The update, previously codenamed 19H1, is a lightweight update in terms of forward-facing features that consumers will notice.

That said, while tech enthusiasts might be aware of the big updates, for most people, these look the same as the small ones. By doing things this way, instead of having two updates per year forced onto your machine, you can install one every year and a half.
