Nipsey Hussle shooting: Woman getaway driver denies charges

The Los Angeles Police Department has identified a suspect in the shooting death of rapper and community advocate, Nipsey Hussle.

Police said earlier Tuesday at a news conference that they believe Holder fatally shot Hussle over a personal dispute.

Nipsey, real name Ermias Asghedom, was gunned down outside of his Marathon Store on Sunday afternoon at around 3.20pm.

Police said earlier that Holder was still at large, having fled the crime scene in a vehicle driven by an unidentified woman. Holder escaped in a white 2016 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by an unidentified female, who turned herself in to authorities.

"The absolute worst way to pay back Nipsey's loss - somebody we lost at the hands of violence - is with more violence", Garcetti said.

Most recently, London and Hussle highlighted their romance in the March issue of GQ, opening up about how they connected in 2013 when she wanted to buy his limited edition mixtape as a wrap gift for her The Game costars. Dozens of police officers cleared the memorial site. Two other men were also shot, though they survived their injuries.

An autopsy completed Monday showed that Hussle was shot in the head and torso. "The majority of injuries were related to "trample injuries" sustained when the crowd rushed out", the fire department said in a statement.

Hussle grew up in south Los Angeles and often talked about being in a street gang during his teenage years. One of the victims was struck by a vehicle and the other may have been stabbed, according to police.

Mayor Eric Garcetti noted that "Nipsey Hussle was someone who was a gifted and brilliant artist".

19 people were injured in the confusion that resulted from the stampede.

The LAPD is working with community leaders to clean the area, protect the memorial and make it safe for visitors, Moore said. Soboroff on Tuesday morning read for reporters the email he received from Hussle in February requesting the meeting.
