Whoa: Crypt of the Necrodancer is hitting Switch in Zelda form

Great news for Switch fans and those looking for more games, tomorrow Nintendo is having a Nindies Showcase with 30 minutes of footage and announcements. While many of them are familiar faces, like Stardew Valley, a few new games have crept onto the list, including Overcooked 2. Nintendo thanked the developers Studio MDHR and Microsoft for bringing the game to Switch. It is also especially surprising in this game's case that Nintendo was willing let indie developer Brace Yourself Games work on a title connected to one of Nintendo's most beloved franchises.

Cadence must team up with Link and Zelda as the trio go on a quest to save Hyrule from certain ruin.

As shared by Easy Allies' Daniel Bloodworth, that was apparently an idea of Microsoft, that's evidently interested in bringing Xbox games and Live features on Switch by using the game as a sort of test. We know how long folks have been waiting for this, so we took special care in the quality of each translation, and curated fonts that felt just right for each audience. The first footage shows the shopkeeper from Crypt of the Necrodancer, as well as segments that have Cadence, Link, and Zelda fighting. The expansion is slated to arrive sometime this year and will introduce new challenges, bosses, and another playable character, Ms. Chalice.

Cadence of Hyrule will be released for Switch this spring. You can check out all of the trailers from the Nindies Spring Showcase here.

"Some people wondered if we were going to tweak the balance or really adjust things, and I don't see that as being fair.We wanted to let the next wave of gamers experience it exactly how we meant to make it". The game's graphics are also deeply reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.
