A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick helped Juve to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Atletico Madrid and book their spot in the quarterfinals.

Lionel Messi lead the way with two goals and two assists as Barcelona reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in style by thrashing Olympique Lyonnais 5-1 at home on Wednesday and advancing by the same scoreline on aggregate.

Two weeks later, when the two sides met again in Turin, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hattrick. "I was surprised because I honestly thought Atletico would be stronger, but Juventus ran over them".

On February 21, Atletico Madrid beat Juventus in Wanda Metropolitano by two goals to nil.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, might want to watch what he sends to Evra in future because the former France worldwide clearly doesn't hesitate to share any messages with the public.

Messi opened the scoring at the Nou Camp with an audacious chipped penalty then restored control in the tie after Lyon had pulled a goal back to make it 2-1, hitting a decisive third goal after a trademark dazzling run to shake off four defenders.

With the Champions League now down to the final eight, they could be back on the same field soon. Now, all eyes will be on Lionel Messi tonight to see if he can do something equally as mesmerising against Lyon in the last 16.

"We are all psyched up for the Champions League and so is Leo". Messi has won it four times, Ronaldo five.

"We don't want to choose one [side] because they're all really tough", Messi said. Liverpool has a lot of firepower like it showed against Bayern (Munich).

Coach Ernesto Valverde said at his post-match press conference: "It was an important game for him (Coutinho) as it was for everyone, our club and our team".
