"But twice now when trying to matchmake my PS4 has completely turned off". Several other users report similar experiences. It seems like that game just has a nasty habit of crashing consoles altogether rather than making them useless hunks of junk.

"It is the same as if someone pulled the plug without properly shutting the hardware down or if the power went out in the house".

Following this type of crash, some found pushing the front button wouldn't start the console; instead, they had to unplug the machine and plug it back in. Still, it's a game that has added a ton since launch and if you only played the initial vanilla version you might do well to check it out again, especially the "Royal Edition" which just includes all the most current DLC.

System crashes caused by bugs in the Anthem video game have led Sony to offer full refunds to players.

Reddit user TheMadTitanGauntlet says "My playstation has been completely bricked to the point of not even turning on because of Anthem", as noted by Kotaku.

Anthem isn't the only game to have shipped in a broken state over the past couple of months.

Players had reported Anthem was crashing and shutting down the PlayStation 4 at random, prompting many to ask Sony for refunds for the troubled online loot shooter.

Though BioWare and Electronic Arts don't know what's causing this issue yet, they're attempting to find out, and they're enlisting the help of Anthem players.

Fast forward to 2019, and Final Fantasy XV is nearly an entirely different game. I've also experienced the shutdown issue. but only when I fall asleep playing.

Anecdotally, I took a rental of the game for a spin on Xbox One, and ran into multiple hard crashes, mostly coming into and out of loading screens. The PS4 version of the game now has a score of 57/100 on Metacritic, but it has been even more mercilessly judged by users, who have scored it at 4.2/10.
