Mr Cohen, who testified again on Thursday (Friday AEDT) behind closed doors, suggested that Congress interview seven other Trump Organisation staffers and associates - including Mr Weisselberg and Mr Sater - and also seek Mr Trump's tax returns and other financial documents.

Cohen, who pleaded guilty last year to lying to Congress about the Moscow real estate project and reports to prison soon for a three-year sentence, gave harsh testimony about Trump on Wednesday.

Cohen told the House oversight committee that Trump "knew of and directed the Trump Moscow negotiations throughout the campaign and lied about it".

President Donald Trump blasted his former attorney Michael Cohen Friday, saying he lied to House investigators in dramatic testimony this week. Cohen said Weisselberg helped him "figure out how to" pay off Daniels after Trump allegedly instructed him to do so.

"They could have made it two days later or next week, and it would have been even better", Trump said.

Trump said, "As far as Cohen is concerned, he's convicted". Cohen brought copies of the reimbursement checks and Trump financial statements to bolster his account. He told reporters that his panel is poring over the transcript and anyone mentioned multiple times has a chance of hearing from them.

Cohen has met with the NY attorney general's office regarding its investigation into Trump's charitable foundation, provided the office with documents "concerning a separate open inquiry", and cooperated with requests from the state's tax department, his attorneys said in court filing before his December sentencing.

"This has obviously been an excruciating time for him", Schiff said.

"Unfortunately, this topic is actually something that's being investigated right now by the Southern District of New York", Cohen responded, "and I've been asked by them not to discuss it".

Democrats invited Cohen to testify after he started cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. It was signed by Mr Weisselberg and the President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, who are helping run Mr Trump's businesses while he is in the White House. "'I don't know why you're fucking with Mr. Trump but if you keep fucking with Mr. Trump, we know where you live and we're going to your house for your wife and kids'".

"You have a history of lying over and over and over again", Representative Jim Jordan of OH, the Oversight panel's top Republican, told Cohen.

The weeklong gauntlet of interviews with Cohen launched what is expected to be months of investigations of Trump and those connected to him.

Ronald Fischetti, a veteran criminal defence lawyer in NY, said Cohen could get a reduced prison term if prosecutors deem he has provided substantial help in their investigations.

The article noted, in a reference to the president's elder daughter, that a "top inaugural planner emailed Ivanka and others at the company to "express my concern" that the hotel was overcharging for its event spaces, worrying of what would happen 'when this is audited.'" There's more about the behind-the-scenes machinations of the Trump inaugural committee in "New Evidence Emerges of Possible Wrongdoing by Trump Inaugural Committee".

"I got exactly what I wanted", Cohen said.

In testimony that cut to the heart of federal investigations encircling the White House, Cohen said he arranged the hush money payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels at Trump's behest and agreed to lie about it to the public and the first lady. "I will not sit back, say nothing and allow him to do the same to the country".
