Borderlands remasters coming as free upgrades next week

Five long years after Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was released, Gearbox is finally ready to debut its next game in the series, dropping the first full trailer for Borderlands 3 at a Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) keynote event. The company put out a Borderlands Mayhem trailer that featured character designs straight from the Borderlands 3 4chan leak that hit the Internet earlier this week. According to the trailer, Borderlands 3 will feature over one billion guns. It looks like a celebration of everything Borderlands, which could point to every character appearing in the sequel or potential remasters on the horizon, perhaps in a new engine? There will also be some small additions that improve the experience, including a new minimap like the one found in Borderlands 2. Funnily, before the reveal, he was wearing a shirt with a big "3" on the back for the whole time. The new Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition will arrive in April with support for Ultra HD displays and, of course, latest-generation consoles, giving fans a chance to re-experience the popular title. We briefly see a mech being activated too.

After a few misfires, however, we got our first look at the game, which we've included for you below.

Really the only Borderlands game that didn't get some attention during Gearbox's PAX East 2019 panel was Tales from the Borderlands. As someone who prefers to play games solo, I'm hoping that the single-player campaign remains the heart of Borderlands.

No platforms, release dates, or other sorts of information were revealed, but the million guns are quite enough to satisfy us for now. The crowd booed at the prospect of a Borderlands battle royale game, and Pitchford clarified "that's not what we're making." .
