Lottery officials say the Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $625 million.

Each of the top four all-time highest jackpots passed the $600 million mark, and came in successive years.

It would be the seventh-highest US lottery jackpot ever.

· In Michigan, the $1 million victor was the largest prize won in the state.

Tonight's Powerball is expected to reach at least $625 million.

Players pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers - five different numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25 - or select Easy Pick. Last is your shot at $4, which you could use to buy two more Powerball tickets if you wanted.

Statistically, you only have a one in 292.2 million chance of winning the big prize.

Players must purchase tickets by 9 p.m. Wednesday to be included in that night's drawing. No victor was selected Wednesday, helping to boost the Powerball jackpot to $638.8 million.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
