Winter Storm: Snow, sleet, freezing rain in NY area

And another storm bringing snow and the potential for freezing rain was on tap for parts of the Seattle area.

Brace yourself for yet another round of messy winter weather.

Environment Canada issues storm warnings when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

In Northern California, the latest in a series of storms dusted beaches with snow and caused whiteout conditions on mountain roads. Rain may also mix in west of interstate 81. The wind could hit 35 miles per hour along the coast and 25 miles per hour for inland locations, leading to blowing and drifting snowfall at times, officials said.

The winter storm is associated with a Colorado low that will cross southern Ontario Tuesday and Wednesday.

"However, warmer air will turn snow to sleet and rain from south to north Monday night through Tuesday evening, making for a messy mixture of precipitation and a tricky morning and evening commute for many Tuesday".

A wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain will develop this evening, eventually changing over to all rain into south-central MI by later Tuesday morning.

"Across the interior, 3-6 inches of snow along with an icy mix is expected including Allentown, Pa. and Hartford, Ct". Areas from Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties and south, could see two to four inches of snow and more ice through 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.

In addition to areas in the Northeast, eastern Iowa, Wisconsin and northern MI will experience the worst snow. Weather warnings will be updated as the storm approaches.
