Paul Merson reveals his prediction for Huddersfield v Arsenal

"There's a big difference between the top three [Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham] and us but we are a lot closer to Chelsea and Manchester United".

With just 17 away wins out of the 50 games played since August 2016, the issue has been something Emery would have been keen to resolve when he replaced Arsene Wenger.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson said: "I'm going to go for Arsenal, but I would not be shocked if they did not win because defensively, Arsenal are just not good enough".

Emery's side have lost their past three away games in the Premier League including a 3-1 loss at Manchester City last weekend.

Emery was charged with returning Arsenal to the Champions League when appointed last May and reacquainting them with the financial clout of Europe's elite competition.

With defeats at Southampton and West Ham among the other low-lights of Arsenal's travel-sick season, the thought of losing to bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium is too much for Emery to stomach.

"My first critic is always myself", he said.

"I work over the criticisms of me because I know that work in the present can change our way".

The Gunners are now battling to finish among the top four teams in the Premier League with serious competition coming from Manchester United and Chelsea.

"This week he worked Monday alone here with our coaches and also yesterday and today he's working with a different adaptation, better than last week".

They have taken only two points in six away fixtures since then.

"One month ago we were in the same situation".

"I hope he will continue, he is improving every day with us".

The Gunners only signed Denis Suarez during the transfer window, and they got his signature on loan from reigning Spanish champions Barcelona.

"It's not to think we're playing under pressure, it's to be demanding and also with ambition to be in the top four".

"Then he can show in the next matches how he can help us, better than in the first match against Manchester City".
