NBA All-Star: LeBron trades Westbrook to Team Giannis for Ben Simmons

With the final two picks, Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade, James will get first dibs.

James, who will lead a team against fellow All-Star captain Giannis Antetokounmpo's lineup in Charlotte on February 17, assembled a formidable looking starting lineup.

Once Antetokounmpo started that round with Milwaukee teammate Khris Middleton, it was a relative no-brainer for James to go with Davis.

After they drafted their rosters for the NBA All-Star Game this evening, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo consummated a hilarious trade.

New Orleans Pelicans ace Anthony Davis - linked to a move to the Los Angeles Lakers before the trade deadline closed Thursday - headed James' reserves.

"Tampering rules do not apply on All-Star Weekend", James replied with a chuckle.

The very first pick of the draft was the Warriors' Kevin Durant and James confirmed to TNT's Ernie Johnson that it was the second year in a row he'd kicked off the proceedings with that selection.

The Milwaukee Bucks star then selected Philadelphia's Joel Embiid before adding Paul George and Kemba Walker. James took Davis, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook, LaMarcus Aldridge, Karl-Anthony Towns and Bradley Beal.

With the National Basketball Association trade deadline just hours away, it remains to be seen if the Lakers will be able to lock down a trade for Davis.

Given that James had the first pick of that round, it was a foregone conclusion that he would select Wade, his close friend and former championship-winning Miami teammate.

Antetokounmpo added Dirk Nowitzki as his special selection.

It's also unclear how James drafted his team as the National Basketball Association didn't yet televise the event. Antetokounmpo drafted Ben Simmons, much to James' dismay, but they agreed to work out a trade after the draft was complete.
