'Aladdin' trailer offers first look of Will Smith as live-action Genie

"Will Smith as #Aladdin's genie makes me want to uninvent CGI", wrote a third. The publicity photo above looks a little more polished.

Just saw the #Aladdin preview. Among the previously unseen shots is one of the Genie, in all his cerulean glory.

Disney is taking its beloved, classic cartoon Aladdin and adapting it into a live-action film.

Although Will Smith had been featured as the Genie, people weren't happy about the fact that he wasn't blue.

All will be revealed come May 24th, when the live-action Aladdin hits cinemas worldwide.

Holy crap, that is the stuff nightmares!

The comments on Disney's YouTube page weren't any better. However, he did reassure fans that he would turn blue although it won't be for the film's entirety.

"Aladdin: I have a request". And fans really think this is true for the new Aladdin movie.

Another sent a harsh message to Disney, "Please don't release this, it's not ready". Poor casting choice for Jafar and Jasmine.

Despite the negativity, there were some positive takes.

"I'm super pumped for this, and don't plan to compare it to the animated version from my childhood". Even though Smith and Williams have different comedy styles, it will be interesting to see how Smith brings the famous character to life in the movie. Jessica Collins said on Facebook.

Another tweeted: "Will Smith as the Genie in Aladdin is sooooo weird wtf".

But let's be real: it's Will Smith that steals the spotlight in the trailer, showing up at the very end and making quite the impression.

Smith once again posted on Instagram today after the spot was aired. Naturally, we'll most likely disagree about the specific ordering.
