Finn Balor will forever go down in the history books as the first Universal Championship, even if he had to relinquish the title nearly immediately due to injury. He had the potential to become the marquee superstar in the WWE but an unfortunate injury ruined everything for him.

During the latest edition of his Ross Report podcast, Jim Ross spoke about this controversial decision: "I think the issue of taking Braun Strowman out of the dream match against Brock Lesnar was somewhat controversial". Though neither followed through at the "Show Of Shows", WrestleMania is merely a sign to be pointed on Rumble night, rather than an event to actually consider the ramifications of. The beast was literally down outside the ring at this point in this match at Royal Rumble. Finn Balor started off the match hard and fast attacking Lesnar with a flurry of offence.

In the end, Finn Balor hit the Coup de Grace on Lesnar and that was nearly enough.
