West Ham's Antonio Speaks Out On The 'Difficult Situation' Rice Is Facing

After the defeat to West Ham, Emery was asked about Ozil's failure to even make the bench against.

Speaking to Goals on Sunday, Antonio mentioned that he was hard to put himself in Rice's shoes but having spoken to the 19-year old, he knows that he has loyalties towards Ireland.

"For Ozil not to be in the (matchday squad of) 18, whatever's going on with him, I can't get my head around that".

"I would say holding midfield is his best position because he just breaks everything up".

"To get the three points, to beat Arsenal and for me to score is unbelievable". The full-back goes up, he's able to go out wide to deal with it.

The Frenchman, who was unable to play for 13 months, said it was "the best feeling so far in my life to be back".

"Do you know who he reminds me of?"

The 22-year-old has been with Monaco since joining the club from Nancy in 2016 and after spending some time out on loan, Ait Bennasser has now become something of a regular under Thierry Henry having made 17 appearances in all competitions this season. [N'Golo] Kante, [Claude] Makélélé, those type people.

"I decided that these players were the best for this match".

But captain Laurent Koscielny told the club website: "We don't think about that".

"The big opportunity for us is that we can take in our hands the possibility to be closer to them. We continue working with every player because they are all important, but today the decision was to come with these players", added Emery.

The Gunners lacked creativity without the World Cup victor, but Emery sought to defend his selection afterwards by claiming that he had enough quality within his side to cope without one player.
