Machado reportedly still wants a $300 million contract, and potentially one that surpasses Giancarlo Stanton's record-setting $325 million deal.

The Yankees might not admit they're completely out on Machado, but they continue to make additions to the infield that would lead you to believe they aren't going to sign the superstar infielder.

It appears they are likely, not definitely, out on Machado now. The righty has always racked up lots of hits and sports a high career batting average. That would open up second base for LeMahieu, at least until Gregorius is set to return. He is also a three-time Gold Glove victor.

LeMahieu's multi-positional abilities will allow him to play second base, with Gleyber Torres at shortstop, in the event that the oft-injured Tulowitzki can not take the field.

It's also worth mentioning that the Yankees recently signed Troy Tulowitzki, a longtime teammate of LeMahieu's in Colorado. The righty could also slide over to third base late in games, serving as a defensive replacement for the defensively challenged youngster, Miguel Andujar.

LeMahieu stands as far and away the team leader in games played at second base and he managed to work his way into the top ten in a number of significant offensive categories as well.

Good luck in New York, DJ. Middleton told Skversky that the meeting was "really positive", and that they "got to understand what [Bryce] would be like for the clubhouse and community".

Big-market teams that stayed below the luxury tax threshold in 2018 like the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees were expected to be in the running for both stars.

Looking back on LeMahieu legacy with the Rockies, we can see a player that grew past all expectations while helping the organization reach new heights competitively.
