Chelsea row 'puts Gonzalo Higuain deal in doubt'

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri coached Higuain at Napoli where the player hit 36 goals during a memorable spell in Serie A in 2015/16, the most goals by a player in a single season in Italy's top flight.

Higuain joined Milan on a season-long loan from Juventus in July with an option to make the deal permanent, but he has struggled to settle at the seven-time European champion, scoring eight goals in all competitions.

Chelsea are ready to loan out Alvaro Morata in January with Maurizio Sarri keen on bringing in Gonzalo Higuain as his replacement, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Argentina global set a new Serie A goal-scoring record under Sarri at the Stadio San Paolo in the 2015/16 campaign with 36 goals.

He scored 40 league goals in two seasons for them, but left for Milan in the last close season after Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in Turin.

England global Wilson has found the back of the net nine times in the Premier League this season and has registered five assists.

However, the deal remains complicated with AC Milan remaining reluctant to terminate their existing loan contract with the Argentine and this could shift the Blues' interest elsewhere.

However, Milan sporting director Leonardo said on Tuesday that Higuain had to "get down to work".

Higuain has been linked with a move to Chelsea since the summer.

His age aside, his wage demands aside, the difficulty of negotiating with two teams aside, Higuain scores goals, and Chelsea need goals.

Chelsea are closing in on finalising the signature of AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to Spanish daily Marca.

"And you can't really see how Chelsea are going to go to the end of the season with Eden Hazard playing as a false nine".
