Notre Dame-Clemson will kick off shortly after 4 p.m. while the Crimson Tide and Sooners will follow at 8 p.m. Notre Dame is in the playoff for the first time, making it 10 teams in five seasons to participate in the playoff.

This will be only the fourth meeting between Clemson and Notre Dame, the first in a bowl game. "Congrats to players, coaches and teams selected for the playoff and wish all of them the best going forward". The Irish played there in 2013 and defeated No. 22 Arizona State 37-34 in the Shamrock Series.

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma Sooners were upbeat about their chances after a Saturday 39-27 victory over Texas.

Time to set the field for college football's final four.

SEC champion Alabama, ACC champion Clemson, Notre Dame and Oklahoma were picked Sunday as the four teams that made the cut.

The semifinals will be played December 29 in the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl.

Many believed the tightly contested loss was still enough to put Georgia in the playoff, but the selection committee though otherwise, as they granted Oklahoma the No. 4 seed. The winners of the two semis will meet in the National Championship Game in Santa Clara, California on Jan 7th. The committee now needs to decide the fourth spot which will likely come down to Georgia 11-2, Oklahoma 12-1 or Ohio State 12-1.

The sports network said Georgia had the best strength of schedule of the three and Ohio State had the best strength of record, a statistic that measures how strong a team's record is given its schedule.
