Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Announces New "Spirits" Mode

As per usual, Nintendo didn't share any specifics ahead of time, simply stating in an email that the video will feature "new information on the game".

You may have caught the premiere of the new World of Light Adventure Mode trailer for Super Smash Bros.

With a pro-wrestling-themed moveset, the Fire/Dark-type Pokemon is primarily skilled with strong throwing moves. The Nintendo Online phone app will allow for voice chat, and a new app called Smash World will launch sometime after the game, which will focus on players sharing fun gameplay moments. Ultimate Nintendo Direct, Director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that after today there will be no more full characters announced for Super Smash Bros.

Alongside that, a more typical Smash Blog update to the music section brings the Pokémon Sun & Moon wild battle theme to coincide with Incineroar's spot on the card. There's also a pretty nifty song for the game and a glorious overview of the "Super Smash Bros". You can see this suggestion for yourself below, but suffice to say, we believe he nailed it.

The Mii Fighter gets some brand new outfits to use, too, with a Splatoon set, an Arms set, a Chibi Robo costume, a Toy-Con set, and a Ray MkIII one all shown.

We also hope to learn more about the Spirits mode that Nintendo hinted at in its last Direct. The presentation stated that the character is still in development and will be available several months after the game launches.
