Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has been hospitalized after he reportedly collapsed backstage at Madison Square Garden in NY after a performance with Billy Joel. Paramedics, who spent over 30 minutes with the 68-year-old, had to put a trachea down his throat to clear the air path before transporting him to a nearby hospital. However, he's reportedly awake and the outlet notes that he could be released from the hospital as early as Sunday afternoon.

As of this morning, there's no official word on Perry's condition, but radio personality Eddie Trunk tweeted that he heard the guitarist is "doing well today thankfully".

The incident has forced him to cancel a planned appearance in Florida at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp on Sunday, EW reported.

It is not the first time the musician has been rushed to hospital after a show. In 2016, Perry collapsed onstage while performing at the Amphitheater on Coney Island Boardwalk with rock group Hollywood Vampires, which also featured Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper. Footage from the event showed Perry stumbling offstage from the Ford Amphitheatre before losing consciousness backstage. Perry and Aerosmith co-founder and lead singer Steven Tyler are set to begin an Aerosmith residency with the crew in Las Vegas starting in April 2019.
