Blizzard Has More Diablo Projects in Works & Will Release More Mobile Games

The knowledge that a full-fat Diablo game is on the way may have positioned Immortal as a snack to be enjoyed in the meantime, not unlike the relationship between Fallout Shelter and Fallout 4.

Blizzard's statement also confirmed what the company has said before in that multiple unannounced Diablo projects are being worked on.

According to a Kotaku report, however, the reaction to Diablo Immortal's announcement could've been very different, as the site says that Blizzard planned to confirm Diablo 4 is in development but bailed on the reveal before last Friday.

The announcement of Diablo Immortal at BlizzCon went about as badly as it could have.

"Diablo was supposed to be Blizzard's first shot on goal into the big global mobile game market", Jefferies analyst Timothy O'Shea wrote noting the criticism from Blizzard's PC fanbase. Diablo: Immortal is a free to play mobile title, and die-hard Diablo fans are clearly not happy. That would make sense if the higher-ups at Blizzard were still uncertain if the final game would ever see the light of day, or if the form it took at release would be wildly different than anything they might tease in these stages.

The next expansion for the game will be Rastakhan's Rumble and we were given a great cinematic to announce the expansion.

Launched in May 2012, Diablo 3 hasn't seen any new content since 2017, although it's just been made available on the Nintendo Switch, so there's that. At time of righting the video has 14 000 likes versus 382 000 dislikes.

The pricing structure, which hasn't been revealed, will tell us a lot about Blizzard's intentions here.

Considering all of this, you can expect more Diablo news and updates in the coming weeks, months, and likely even years here on Dead Entertainment.

After this whole situation, there's still a chance that Diablo 4 is in development. We hoped that would allay concerns, but we knew despite that our most engaged, most passionate fans and players here at this show would only be satisfied with one thing. One of them is the game that fans are waiting for, and it was almost announced last week. No, I'm not talking about the UK-EU Brexit negotiations entering their final phase or the HBO box-set levels of drama coming out of the United States mid-terms. We'll have more news to share at some point in the future.
