United manager has seen a bit of a revival in recent weeks.

Chelsea host BATE Borisov in the Europa League, before taking on Burnley next weekend in the Premier League. And it was. Nothing, however, will remedy the fact that Chelsea do not behave like a big club.

The pair clashed at Stamford Bridge on Saturday when Ianni appeared to goad Mourinho after Ross Barkley's stoppage-time equaliser salvaged a 2-2 draw for Chelsea.

Mourinho later told BBC Sport: "It is not my reaction". Players make mistakes. I prefer to focus on the global performance. I think it is finished.

"It [the game] is very emotional and the guy I am sure he doesn't want to do something wrong, he doesn't want to disrespect the team", the Brazilian said. "I have spoken with the member of my staff, and I again spoke with Mourinho to say sorry to him".

The Frenchman's future at Old Trafford seemed destined to be coming to an end, as his relationship with the Portuguese manager was said to have deteriorated beyond fix.

Mourinho does not face any further FA action for that incident, but the United manager is preparing to answer a charge of using abusive, insulting or improper language following the 3-2 victory over Newcastle. I said 'if you really feel it that way, and you want to apologise, of course I accept your apology.

The 31-year-old told the club's official website: "Even though we were 2-1 down, we kept trying to score the equaliser and we did that in the end so I think the spirit was awesome". It was typical Mourinho.

United dropped two places to 10th in the table.

Questioned after the game, the Portuguese said it was in the past.

Returning to Old Trafford with Juventus is Ronaldo, who played for United from 2003-09 before moving to Real Madrid, where he played under Mourinho.

Of the incident involving Sarri's assistant, he added: "I'm not annoyed". "He is one of the best players of all time and nobody can tell different than that, he's one of the best players of all time".
