Samsung announces the Galaxy A9, a mid-range smartphone with four rear cameras

Well, the Chinese OEM were a tad slow and have been beaten to the punch by Samsung, with the South Korean giants officially launching the Galaxy A9 (2018) today-four rear cameras in tow. Dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018), it comes with a total of five cameras- four on the rear side and one on the front side. But the 120-degree Ultra Wide lens on the Galaxy A9 (2018) allows you to take the picture without twisting yourself into a pretzel. There is no doubt that there is the physical limitation to fit in a mechanical zoom lens in such a tiny space to offer multiple focal lengths so the next best thing is to just add more cameras with lenses for different focal lengths.

Samsung Galaxy A9 sports a 3D glass curved back available in three colour options of "Caviar Black", "Lemonade Blue" and "Bubblegum Pink".

The Samsung Galaxy A9 will be available in the United Kingdom for £549 (~$724) in Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink starting in November 2018.

At £549 ($725), it's half the price of the £1,099 Apple's iPhone XS Max, which launched last month.

The Galaxy A9 features digital assistant Bixby, Samsung Pay and Samsung Health. Is this practical or just a marketing ploy? If you need more, it can support microSD card expansion of up to 512GB on its dedicated slot. The phone also features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage.

What's interesting about the Galaxy A9 is that it has plenty of decent features.

The Galaxy A9 is the first product to spring from this plan, which could help fend off mid-range rivals like Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi, while boosting mobile revenues dragged down by sluggish Galaxy Note 9 sales.

Samsung focuses on mid-range, amid talk it's making a phone, that's not the Galaxy S10, with four rear cameras. Keep an eye out for our full review to see how they do. This dual-SIM smartphone comes laden with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

On the front Samsung Galaxy A9 2018 has an 8-megapixel camera. It's unclear if it will come to the United States at this point. It might even be the main camera of the A7, the other two modules sound pretty familiar too. The main camera will be a 24MP sensor coupled with a large f/1.7 aperture.

The wide-angle lens is able to capture a lot of area in a frame.
