OnePlus has just announced that the OnePlus 6T will be announced on October 30 in NY. However, OnePlus has scheduled an event for October 18 where the device will be officially announced and all the rumours would be cleared up.

If you're interested in attending the event, you can get tickets here, or register to watch it live here. Previously, OnePlus phones were available only on its website. One of the most highlighted feature has been the in-display fingerprint sensor.

Rumours have also revealed that the OnePlus 6T will look nearly like the Oppo R17 Pro, which means the phone will come with a waterdrop notch display that will equip the selfie camera. On Monday, OnePlus finally confirmed the date for the OnePlus 6T press event. Through this system, the phone's display houses an optical fingerprint module, that uses the screen as a light source.

The OnePlus 6T also won't feature a headphone jack. However, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC, the same that powers the OnePlus 6 with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The OnePlus 6 is reportedly already sold out in countries like Austria, Italy, Ireland, Denmark, France, Spain, Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania.

Such a move will surely disappoint numerous OnePlus faithful, but Pei emphasised the move was made to allow for "new technologies" inside the product. The phone will likely run Android 9 Pie out of the box and it's touted to feature a bigger battery of 3700mAh.

Recently, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau also described the technology that helps the "Screen Unlock" feature work on OnePlus 6T. The primary camera module is still a dual-lens setup but the front camera is expected to come with an IR sensor.
