Huawei Mate 20 Pro Launch

Huawei's collaboration with luxury lifestyle brand Porsche Design continues with the Mate 20 series, as Singapore buyers will also be able to purchase a premium version of the Mate 20 Pro, called the Mate 20 RS, in November. The Mate 20 Pro on another hand comes with only one memory and storage options which is 6GB and 128GB respectively for European Union 1049 (~RM 5044).

The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are also the first Huawei devices to ship with Android 9 Pie, overlaid with its EMUI skin, with a simpler interface and gesture navigation.

Talking about gaming, Huawei compared the Mate 20 X with the Nintendo Switch which it says, has double the gaming battery life of the Nintendo device.

All of the Mate 20 models are equipped with large batteries, providing electric charge from 4,000 milliampere hour to 5,000mAh, that are created to power users throughout the day, according to the company.

The camera system and Kirin 980 chipset are the same as in the Mate 20 Pro. As usual, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 20 RS will be incredibly expensive, starting at 1,695 euros (~$1,966).

On track to ship 200 million handset to both domestic and global markets this year, Huawei surpassed Apple in global smartphone shipments in the second quarter of this year.

The smaller Mate 20 has a "teardrop" style cutout. This setup consists of a primary 16-megapixel ultra wide angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a secondary 12-megapixel wide angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture, and a tertiary 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture; all of these coupled with LED flash and Super HDR.

The standard Mate 20 is equipped with 6.53-inch Full HD+ RGBW display while the Mate 20 Pro comes with 6.39-inch 2K+ curved OLED display. The Mate 20 Pro has an iPhone-style cutout that allows for three-dimensional face unlock. 128GB is the only storage option on the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro.

However, only the Mate 20 Pro offers the new 40W SuperCharge and 15W Wireless Quick Charge features as well as Wireless Reverse Charging.

They include a new ultra-wide angle lens, as well as a telephoto lens and a macro that shoots objects as close as 2.5 centimeters (1 inch). All of this is contained within a smartphone that'll be released in Midnight Blue and Phantom Silver. Meanwhile, the Mate 20 features a 6.5-inch LCD screen with 2244 x 1080 resolution, 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 88.08% screen-to-body ratio. Inside is Huawei's new Graphene Film and Vapor Chamber Cooling System, and the whole unit is IP53 rated water and dust resistant.
