Donald Trump’s "Great" Reaction To Meghan McCain’s Memorial Rebuke

In an impassioned eulogy for her father, six-term Arizona senator John McCain, Meghan McCain delivered several blows to sitting President Donald Trump, who was not invited to the beloved senator's funeral.

For all of John McCain's exalted titles - war hero, Senator, presidential candidate - Meghan McCain said she loved him best as a father. "But he also made me better".

Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden, who delivered an emotional eulogy for McCain at a memorial service in Arizona on Thursday, will serve as a pallbearer on Saturday.

John McCain, in a ceremony Saturday at the Washington National Cathedral, the culmination of a week of public memorials for the Arizona lawmaker, who died August 25 at age 81.

The senator's passing marked the end of a 35-year political career that brought the independent-minded Republican within reach of the White House as his party's presidential nominee.

Obama spoke of the long talks he and McCain would have privately in the Oval Office and the senator's understanding that America's security and influence came not from "our ability to bend others to our will" but universal values of rule of law and human rights. Her speech was also, in many ways, a pointed critique of President Trump and his simplistic, nativist worldview. McCain was a decorated veteran who was held for more than five years as a prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese. "In one epic life was written the courage and greatness of our country", he said. "Because America was always great".

In 2016, they had another camera-ready moment when Obama wrapped her arms around Bush during the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

Melania Trump thinks Donald's reaction to John McCain's death was "petty and insecure.' Here's why she thinks he "should have swallowed his pride" and provided a 'more gracious" statement.

Trump, who feuded with McCain and criticised his war record, spent the morning sending tweets about other subjects. "John called on us to be bigger than that".

McCain's final public ceremony before his private burial Sunday at the US Naval Academy in nearby Annapolis, Maryland highlighted the warrior politician's call for healing.

On Saturday, speeches by his daughter Meghan and two former presidents - Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Barack Obama - remembered McCain as a patriot who could bridge painful rivalries.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of SC, a close friend of McCain's, and McCain's children Jimmy and Sidney McCain are taking part in the ceremony as well.

Vice President Mike Pence represented the Trump administration at the ceremony, and sat next to McCain's widow, Cindy.

On Friday Mr McCain's body was taken back to the Congress buildings where he worked for decades and lay in state in the Capitol rotunda overnight. "And to me, he was a friend whom I'll deeply miss".
