Guice injured his left knee at the end of a first-quarter run in Thursday's preseason opener against the New England Patriots.

Washington Redskins rookie running back Derrius Guice tore his ACL and is out for the season, the team announced on Friday. The initial diagnosis on Guice's injury asserts that he suffered an MCL sprain (per Ian Rapoport), although we are still waiting for MRI confirmation.

Guice had first-round talent entering the National Football League draft process, but slid due to character concerns stemming from an alleged incident during his visit with the Eagles. This is a huge blow to a Washington offense that was expecting big things from Guice, the No. 59 overall pick in this year's draft.

Redskins PR confirmed that Guice was being examined for a knee issue. Guice and the Redskins pushed back against those claims - and the 21-year-old quickly fit in with teammates and became a fan favorite. He got seven carries in Washington's preseason debut after Kelley and Guice were done for the night, totaling 31 yards. ACL tears typically take at least six months to recover from and the track record of being the same player has been mixed. Basically they'll have a running downs back and a passing downs back. Both players are expected to make a full recovery and are looking forward to playing in 2019.

In 2017, Washington was bit pretty hard by the injury bug.
