The news comes as Far Out Magazine reported that news that Franklin is receiving hospice support at her home in Detroit.

He said Franklin aided the church by giving concerts to raise money and wrote "big checks" to help them feed those in need.

Speaking to People about Aretha's health, her nephew said: "She's alert, laughing, teasing, able to recognize people".

"I met Aretha Franklin when I was 9, my grandfather's gf was her close friend", one person tweeted. "I wish the best for her and I wish the best for her family", he told paparazzi.

Others, including Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Chance the Rapper, Missy Elliott and more joined in.

"She's known God as her savior, certainly, but she had to believe that that voice that she has - that very special voice, I call it a gospel voice that comes from the soul, no matter what she's singing, it could be the Star Spangled Banner, but you could hear church right in it", he said.

"Adding my prayer to the galaxy of prayers for Aretha today", tweeted "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

"Prayers going up for the Queen of Soul tonight". Young Aretha would visit Buffalo during summer vacations until her mother died in 1952.

The card read: "Book of Love and Healing for Aretha, the Queen".

The Detroit Free Press reports the moment came early in the show Monday night at Ford Field with Beyoncé saying, "We love you" and thanking the ailing 76-year-old for her "beautiful music".

"I loved how she has an ability to touch people's heart with her music", Johannessen said.

"I am retiring this year", the iconic singer told a Detroit news station.

Franklin was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but spent many of her pre-teen years in Buffalo's Cold Springs neighborhood.

In an unusual move, a tribute concert produced by Live Nation and spearheaded by Sony Music Chief Creative Officer Clive Davis, who signed Franklin to Arista Records in 1980, has already been announced.

Her last performance was on November 2, 2017 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in NY.
