Another major deal on the go in Madrid is the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, with Salgado hoping Real don't lower their asking price for the winger too much.

In a letter posted on the Real website, the five-time Ballon d'Or victor said his time in the Spanish capital, during which he became their record goalscorer, had been one of the happiest in his life.

The winger was converted into an out-and-out striker, scoring an incredible 451 goals for Los Blancos in just 438 matches, smashing the club's previous scoring record of 323 held by Raul. "Apart from the titles he has lifted, the honours secured and the on-field achievements during these nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been a role model in terms of commitment, hard work, responsibility, talent and self-improvement".

Whether a mooted move in the region of £88m happens remains to be seen, but either way with Ronaldo now 33-years-old, Madrid have to plan for the future.

And Pele, who spent 18 years at Santos before ending his career with New York Cosmos, understands Ronaldo's decision.

'Juventus want to win the Champions League, but not only that, to be recognised on the same level as the greatest clubs in the world, ' he told Sky Sport Italia.

He also scored a hat-trick for Portugal in the World Cup and netted a spectacular bicycle kick against Juventus in the Champions League in the spring.

The deal also fits in with the Italian club's efforts to re-establish its reputation in an era of Premier League and La Liga dominance.

"Champions never tire of new challenges". My respect and recognition to them all.

"It has been a pleasure to play alongside you for the last five years". But he still has it in him to take another league by storm, and that is why Juventus have made such a bold move by signing him.

Juve fans already have their Ronaldo shirts.

Hazard insists that Madrid has not lost any of its lustre as a result, though, hinting that he would like to join the club one day even if he is now content at Chelsea.

"They look like they are looking at other positions".
