The company is also offering a new experience to customers this Prime Day with Virtual Reality (VR) outlets at 11 malls across Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata.

Not content with the shopping extravaganza held annually on Black Friday, Amazon has taken to holding its own little promotion in recent years, imaginatively called Prime Day.

Amazon said it will "double the deals on Amazon devices" this year, such as Alexa-enabled products like Echo, Fire TV and Fire tablets, in addition to new categories from home security to Echo devices with screens. Prime members in the USA, U.K., Spain, Mexico, Japan, India, Italy, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Australia, Singapore, Netherlands and Luxembourg, can shop deals across TVs, smart home, kitchen, grocery, toys, fashion, furniture, appliances and back-to-school supplies and everyday essentials.

Amazon also has lightning deals that are quick-fire short-term discounts on certain items. By asking, "Alexa, what are your deals?" you can get access to exclusive deals not available elsewhere, or the ability to shop certain deals an hour or so earlier than people just visiting the Amazon website.

As ever Prime Day deals are exclusive to Prime members, but there are no restrictions on the type of membership. Starting on July 16th at 3 PM ET, the hottest deals online will be available, letting smart shoppers save on games, electronics, and so much more!

Prime Day is not just about the consumers, Ghani said, but also about the small and medium-sized businesses selling through the retailer. And I'll be all over Prime Day, because as deals editor for Tom's Guide, it's my job to sift through the deals with our team and surface the ones that are worth your hard-earned dollars.
