Arrest made in murder of S. Florida rapper XXXTentacion

A 22-year-old man has been charged with the murder of controversial rapper XXXTentacion, after being arrested by Florida police.

The 20-year-old rapper was gunned down in broad daylight Monday afternoon outside a Deerfield Beach business.

Dedrick D. Williams is now being held in custody and the Broward County Sheriff's Department is charging the 22-year-old with first-degree murder, according to TMZ.

A Florida judge has ordered a suspect in the killing of rapper XXXTentacion (Ex Ex Ex ten-ta-see-YAWN) to be held without bond.

More details of the arrest will be released later, she said.

"Would I change anything about my journey?" he said in an interview with the Miami New Times earlier this month. When he was arrested and booked for a murder charge, he was also hit with a probation violation for his previous grand theft auto charge.

During a vigil on Wednesday for the late rapper XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Onfroy, his mother told family and friends she has been notified by police that an arrest has been made. Two pages of an arrest warrant for Williams only say he was wanted in the murder of Onfroy.

Authorities said XXXTentacion was ambushed by two suspects.

Video footage taken at the scene was shared via social media and showed his body slumped in the driver's seat of a sports vehicle as a bystander attempted to take his pulse. Investigators had previously stated that the shooting was likely a botched robbery attempt. "Williams (dob 3/23/96) was taken into custody shortly before 7p.m.in Pompano". He had been awaiting trial for beating his former girlfriend while she was pregnant, an episode which led to calls to shun his music.

Onfroy's great-grandmother Corine Jones said she learned of her great-grandson's death when she got up to use the bathroom and turned on the television.

Her repeatedly denied his girlfriend's claims, saying she was attacked by someone else and was not pregnant.

The arrest was confirmed to the Daily News by Broward County Sheriff's Office Captain Robert Schakenberg. I just wanted to stay.
