Samantha Grant, 53, suffered a possible broken ankle and fractured knee, according to her partner, Mark, who was driving the auto when the incident happened near their Florida, US, home on Wednesday.

He told the website the incident happened near a toll booth where he says a photographer veered in front of the couple's vehicle, leading him to swerve and hit a concrete barrier. Samantha has multiple sclerosis so she was unable to pick herself up from the mat on her own.

Following his heart attack, Mr Markle reportedly made the decision not to attend the Royal Wedding as he does not want to "embarrass" the Royal Family or his daughter.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said Monday night: "This is a deeply personal moment for Ms Markle in the days before her wedding".

Her mum Doria Ragland arrived in London on Wednesday for moral support ahead of the nuptials, and teachers and pupils at Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School in Los Angeles, where the actress was a former student, will host a celebration to mark Markle's big day. She instead says that she had to personally send him money so that he could undergo surgery.

Thomas Markle will miss the royal wedding because of his health and will not walk Meghan down the aisle. "You've been trashing her for years, you little vulture".

The Suits star's sibling has infamously lashed out at Meghan, calling her "princess pushy".

Samantha is the one behind Thomas' staged photos.

After Meghan wore a £56,000 (AUD $100,000) designer dress for her engagement photo, Samantha Markle, 52, said: "If you can spend (USD) $75,000 on a dress, you can spend $75,000 on your dad".
