White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway appeared to delight in the accusations made against former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, tweeting "gotcha" as she shared an old tweet of his.

From there, Ruhle brought the hammer down on Trump Jr. and Conway, saying it was ironic that they'd be delighted to hear of Schneiderman's abusive behavior - without the least bit of self-awareness. The lawsuit followed reports of multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

"So talk about a double standard, you betcha".

"They allege that he repeatedly hit them, often after drinking, frequently in bed and never with their consent", Jane Mayer and Ronan Farrow wrote in the article.

While Conway threw subtle shade at Schneiderman, Donald Jr. went to town, addressing the allegations in a series of tweets-including one retweet of a message from his father in which Trump pondered whether "lightweight" Schneiderman was "a crook".

"Our office has never been stronger, and this extraordinarily talented, dedicated, and tireless team of public servants will ensure that our work continues without interruption", acting New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood said in a statement to TheWrap. Prior to her appointment she served as Counsel and as Chief Assistant to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of NY. In the last several hours, serious allegations, which I strongly contest, have been made against me. "I therefore resign my office, effective at the close of business on May 8, 2018", the statement added. From 1998 to 2001 she was the Acting Solicitor General and Principal Deputy Solicitor General of the United States.

Schneiderman had investigated a number of Trump business entities - including Trump University - and it's hard to know if the next attorney general will continue watch-dogging the president's businesses so methodically. As Democrats - including Governor Cuomo - now control the process, it's more than likely that the eventual selection of a new Attorney General will be a Democrat as well.

The president has a history of levying his own criticism against Schneiderman, who has taken on the Trump administration in a number of areas, including the travel ban and air pollution.
